North Portugal
The Costa Verde translated means the green coast is a beautiful and unspoilt coastal region. Rich in architecture, excellent port wine cellars, and a unique atmosphere - this is an area steeped in history. It has picturesque surroundings and the beautiful Douro River. For many people this is the real Portugal - remaining untouched by mass tourism.
Porto - the capital city is a city of hills on the north bank of the Douro river, with the ’Ribeira’ (the oldest part of the city) situated on the riverside. There is a local train - that will transport you to places of beauty and rural tranquillity.
